Project 1

Project 1 was a hard one. It took a long time due to all the aspects behind it. It looks fairly easy at first, but then there is a lot to consider. What about the codes? For color? For font? What about for the table, links, images? Then after that the folder and file organization is tedious too. It was hard but it will be useful in the future. The coding was hard, but I always enjoy being creative and learning new things about technology. This taught me a lot about making websites and I will never forget what I learned from this project.

Lab 5

In this lab I created a nameplate. I used adobe Fireworks to do this. It is always a good thing to learn a new program and expand horizons. This specific lab help touch up on my visual design skills. I made my nameplate in the shape of a space ship flying around. This lab helped review my designing skills and may help me in the future. I enjoyed this lab and felt like it really helped me.

Lab 3

Lab 3 really put my coding skills to the test. We had to make a webpage with 6 links to 3 sites. 3 of them were supposed to be image links and the other three were supposed to be text links. I also added a background color to make it more visually pleasing than blank white. The new code we used was <a>. It also needed a destination and something to click on to bring you there(the image or text). I enjoyed the complexity of this lab.

What is web design?

What is web design? It is the process of imagining, designing, and developing electronic files to publish on the internet. Imaging it means to set up smart goals and visualize what the website will look like. Designing it means to make it look how it was imagined. For example, choosing structure, color, font, etc. Finally, developing means to make it behave according to the imagined functions. For example, coding links to actually move the viewer to different places, playing videos or audio files when clicked, etc. The process of web designing may be hard but it is definitely worth the time and effort.

Website vs. Webpage

What is a website? A website is a location connected to the internet that maintains pages on the world wide web. What does this mean? If the parts of the definition were broken down it could be understood easier. Having a location means that it has a url or address telling where to find it on the worldwide web. Being connected to the internet means that it can be accessed from around the world by searching the url. Maintaining pages means that it contains webpages. These parts are fundamental in having a website.
What is a webpage? This is a hypertext document that is connected to the worldwide web. What exactly does this mean? It means that it was coded to be how it is and it may contain text, images, videos, or other forms of media. These are what are inside the websites. An analogy to put these 2 in perspective is that a website is to a webpage as baseball teams are to the Yankees. Although a website contains webpages, it is not limited to just one.

lab 2

Lab 2 was very similar to lab 1. It consisted of the same elements: sentences, headings, tags. It had one difference... we had to ad an image! If I thought that lab ! was hard, I haven't seen anything yet. I feel confident in my lab because it turned out to my satisfaction and I am proud of my ability to learn the new tag.

lab 1

In this lab we learned coding. We learned the tags and punctuation of coding. We learned what goes where. It was pretty basic because we only put headings and sentences. I feel Proud because I completed it.
We didn't have to just know them, we also had to use them. Coding was difficult because one missed space or wrong tag messes up the whole lab. It took a lot of getting used to and a bunch of mistakes later I finally understand the basics. I made progress!
Here is where visual design ended and digital design began.

Lab 12 reflection: Brochure

In this lab we created our brochures. We learned about different uses in indesign and we used the typography concepts we learned about earlier. We also made the visual aspects pop out too. My topic for the brochure was a fictional business called The Best Bites. My group members, Sheima, Paulina, and Rinchen contributed a great deal too.
To turn it in we had to add animations. We made it so that the page would turn upon click. I also made our logo flash. The swf file was not compatible with blogger so I couldn't display it under my reflection. Every panel we designed showed a different food that was being "served" at our business. I enjoyed the lab and I believe it prepared me somewhat for a future in designing.

Enthusiasm and attutude

Enthusiasm and attitude are very important. They make the difference between being the disrespectful kid that showed up or the prepared candidate that planned out his time at the interview. The right attitude shows respect and enthusiasm shows dedication. Everyone should practice these. The are one of the most useful concepts in the workplace.

communication skills

Communication skills are important in every workplace. This is the skill that lets us traffic our ideas and suggestions to the people they might benefit. It may include helping customers or letting an employer know about concerns. Communication should always be formal and polite, never giving an attitude. Communication skills are one of the most important things to learn.

project 7 respect for all gif

Our class's gifs were supposed to be about respect for all, but that covers a broad range of things such as racism, sexism, bullying. I chose to make mine about equality for both genders. I used the custom shape tool, the text tool and effects on the text to make it. knowing how to make gifs is important because a website could be brought to life with just ten or so seconds. I liked this project because it allowed us to be creative and I had a lot of fun.

Lab 11 The GIF

In this lab we made a gif or moving image story board. I made one of a human crossing area. I used the gradient tool and the select tool mostly. This was fun because we could be as creative as ever and we could make anything we wanted. I could not find out how to make something  temporarily disappear from the screen, despite this I made a nice gif that others liked. This skill can be extremely useful for when we make websites and we want to decorate the page with moving images. I definitely enjoyed this lab and would do it again!

Yesterday we held an annual CTE exposition. It is when we put the essence of this class on display for freshmen to see what we have been doing throughout the year or years. The freshmen were here to see and the sophomore, juniors, and seniors hosted it under the supervision of Ms. Ramirez. It took place at I.T.H.S. room 237.  It was 2/12/15 when I participated in my first CTE expo. We, as a class or 3 different grades, displayed our most prized work.

We all shared something we did throughout the year. For the sophomores it was our final project, the juniors presented games, and seniors presented websites. we do this every year to make sure the freshmen know what opportunities they have in their following years. We also feel the pride of being able to display things we had no idea how to make just a few months ago. I thought it was a good turn out because the freshmen looked satisfied with what they saw. I can't wait to see the turn out next year!

The visual design class helped me understand more about technology. My grades weren't as great as I had hoped. I usually catch on and understand topics quickly but this was different. Learning about photoshop was challenging, but i got through it with new knowledge and my head held high. This fall I learned about photoshop and indesign, their tools and their components. I found it especially fun when we had to make our logos because we had the freedom to express our creativity and individuality. the harder more difficult aspects were when the pace was too fast and i was held behind by an anchor of missing knowledge. Luckily my friends and peers helped me and I overcame the obstacles. I found the restoration lab especially challenging because the tools did not behave as i had hoped. The independent homework was what held me back. To improve in the future I must turn in all my work. This is vital for the future because the fall semester because it acts as a foundation for future lessons.
